Part 3:
The last of the confetti trickled down and kissed the ground.
With the parade ended, the comings and goings had left the QCP with a new roster:
Lincoln, the Lark, Uubiquatus, Lars Ember, Chrys Sallis, Arc’x’vestula, Jossen, Proogg (on medical leave) and Del Ford as FBI liaison.
Rick, Dale and I were made honorary QCP members for life.
They praised our bravery and welcomed us back any time.
We received team communication devices, each the size of a small phone, useful across dimensions.

Our moment of departure had arrived.
The QCP said their goodbyes.
I cried a little hugging Agent Ford.
We then booked return passage with the hero who’d delivered us.
Uubiquatus grew in size, clasped his hands and returned us to Rick’s living room.
As promised, the clock showed that only an hour had passed since we’d left.

“Call upon us anytime; you are our allies and we are yours.”
Somehow the ominous voice of Uubiquatus sounded imposing even when friendly.
“Go in peace," he said. “Know that justice smiles upon you.”
The purple spirit vanished from sight, heading away through time and space.
I stood in awe of everything that had happened.
“You ever wonder," Dale said, “what if he's not a hand washer?"
“Seriously?" I asked.
"Probably is," the lion answered. “Hope so."

We’d made sure to return home with big bags of souvenirs.
Posters, buttons, parade programs and more.
The items quickly got spread across the dining room table.
While the memorabilia was mere fiction in our world, somewhere else … they were the stuff of legend.
And for a time, we had stood with those legends.
Served beside the brightest lights.
Watched up close as they'd saved their world from destruction.
Played a part in helping them achieve success.
All in all?
Not a bad way to spend an hour.
