Part 3
The oranges were gone.
Rick surrendered to the authorities.
Dale and I escaped.
And the frog?
Well, it was the end of that story as well.
The cops bombed it with loads of tear gas.
This sent the monster on the run, gagging and blinded, until it sprinted in front of a Goldmann’s Mayonnaise truck on Myers Boulevard.
Frog salad littered the pavement for half a mile.

Rick faced serious jail time.
They told him he was in big trouble.
The D.A. threw a load of criminal charges at him.

Our Florida vacation became a bittersweet memory.
One thing, however, remained true: we had souvenirs.
Three beautiful, tiny souvenirs.
The orange seeds had safely remained in our possession.
A visit to LaVella’s Nursery & Garden came next.

We bought a fifty-pound bag of premium potting soil and a forty-pound bag of natural mineral soil conditioner.
We purchased high-organic tree food and high-phosphorous root feeder cartridges.
We found a 600W grow lamp, three pots and a gardening shovel.
Rick even sprung for the plastic watering can with a balanced flow nozzle head.
The total bill was pretty costly, but what else could we do?
We were growing orange trees in his living room.
